Food. Whether it’s a leisurely lunch with friends, a slow cooker delight at home after a long day at work, a homemade fake-away at the weekend, there are so many routines we have.

Some people may skip breakfast, and some eat breakfast religiously, some hold out until dinner time, everyone’s bodies work differently but all of us need fuel to keep us going.

Here are some foods which will help you on your food journeys to feel energised and nourished.


NUTS

Nuts (for those of us without allergies) are a wonder food, they have many different wonderful effects on us, packed with dietary fibre, omega 3 fatty acids and lots of anti -inflammatory antioxidant qualities. Here are a few top contenders to add into your diet:

Almonds – great for improving memory.

Walnuts – can help reduce inflammation and can decrease the risk of heart disease.

Pecans – great source of potassium, calcium and magnesium which can help lower blood pressure.

 

FRUITS

Blueberries – one of the best sources of natural antioxidants like Vitamin K which is great for heart health.

Bananas – a fabulous food for instant energy, packed full of potassium they really help with gut health.

Apples – help to support healthy digestion with tonnes of fibre, especially in the skin.

Oranges – the fibre in Oranges can help to regulate blood sugar levels.

 

LEAFY GREENS

They are a bit of a wonder food. Packed full of vitamins and minerals, high in fibre and low in calories they may help to lower the risk of some cancers, heart disease and osteoporosis. Think Spinach, Kale, Cabbage etc
